What are Prefabricated Substrates?
Prefabricated substrates are shower components (benches, curbs, niches, etc) manufactured by Schluter-Systems that are designed to integrate seamlessly into a KERDI-SHOWER system or even a traditional mortar bed installation.
They are made of lightweight, stable, load-bearing KERDI-BOARD Building Panel and are available in a variety of sizes and configurations, so you can quickly and easily customize your shower installation.
What are benefits of using KERDI-BOARD Substrates?
KERDI-BOARD Substrates come prefabricated, meaning you don’t have to build and shape them yourself. They are also waterproof and ready for tile. Their unique waterproofing technology eliminates the threat of mold and mildew.
Using Schluter’s KERDI-BOARD Prefabricated Substrates also drastically reduce the time and labor required to install your new shower, making them a great alternative to shower components constructed out of mortar and other traditional building materials.
KERDI-BOARD substrates install in 3 simple steps:1. Apply unmodified thin-set mortar to the portion of the shower assembly you want to affix it to (shower base, walls, etc). 2. Press it firmly into place. 3. Seal corners and seams with the included waterproofing materials.
